...because in Metro Detroit it's almost as important as Halloween Day :)
Hi all.... I've been taking a sort of internet vacation recently. The long story short is that Babe probably won't be leaving for California for a few months. The downside to this is we were really looking forward to having him work (and having the extra money, let's be honest). The upside is that he'll be here for Thanksgiving and Christmas :) This is good news and bad news, but it's not horrible news, you know?
So I'll be visiting my Mum soon enough. I'm going to be helping her downsize and go through her things. She's hoping to move further into the heart of Chicago and she wants to lighten her load a little. I can't say I blame her. I feel the same way right now too. So I'll be out there soon.
Then I'll get back and have a nice Thanksgiving in Michigan with my inlaws. My dadinlaw makes the best food ever. This is exciting!
On a side note, I've been meaning to make a batch of cinnamon bun candles. I would like to do a tutorial on this, but I don't want to be held liable for any one accidentally burning their house down, you know? I'll most likely just show you all a picture of the batch I come up with. I've been needing to burn through my craft supplies, because there is no way in heck I'm lugging all that stuff back out to California (if or when we move...)
I've been really taken by the minimalist lifestyle, not that I've become one or anything, yet... though I have a feeling if I were in a less cluttered environment perhaps my mind would be more clear and I'd be able to operate more efficiently (like a sound mind, in a sound body, in a sound environment?) I think that would be nice :)
Which leads me to getting back to video making, I'm going to do it this week, I double swear. I filmed a bit of a video of me dying my clothes. I'm going to call it diy: dyeing clothes. I dyed a batch of RIT liquid dye "Royal Blue" and "Kelly Green". I thought it would be fun to do sort of an ootd type picture or video for each piece of clothing I dyed. Could be cool? Just trying to break things up a bit.
I've been really inspired to vlog (as usual), but find myself unable to muster the motivation to do anything vlog-worthy. I was going to do some Halloweenie type stuff, but the only thing I ended up doing was carving pumpkins with Babe. Here are a few pictures I snapped off my Twitter to share with you guys here:

We carved pumpkins, isn't it cute? I Googled a bunch of cat-o-lantern pictures and decided to recreate this one with a cat sitting in a full moon. Babe was inspired to do the little one with a creepy jack-o-lantern face D:
Also, we had cheesy lasagna for dinner. It's sort of like Italian, but Mexican. I decided to turn mine into a scary monster! It is Devil's Night after all?

Cute pumpkins!
Very cute pumpkin! :) x
My dear Michigan friend, I loved catching up with you (have read all the recent blog posts)! Usually someone talks about a lifestyle that's minimal and I want to stick my tongue out like a little girl BUT you brought up an excellent point, beginning with your mother:do I want to lug X on my next moving trip?!! When I did the 800 miles from NJ to Kentucky 3 1/2 years ago now, I can remember the friend who packed me to move said -Jean, I didn't know you sewed! - seeing a sewing machine. I don't! It belonged to my late mother & I was no more ready to give it up, than my love of Chinese & Italian food! And so it made the trip. And I'm still not ready- its going to move again with me, even tho Mom passed in 1995 (!) - the sentimental sponsors the stuff, at least, here it does!
