Windy

Hey friends, it's me... just checking in like I do from time to time, what's new?

So I'm still in Chicago, it's Tuesday afternoon and I'm waiting for my mum to get home from work so we can sort through some more things. I cleaned out her car earlier today and have a bit of stuff for her to go through. I also put the Manic Panic "After Midnight" blue through my hair in some subtle streaks, so I've got 15 minutes before that has to be washed out, just passing the time :)

I've really been enjoying myself here, having good food, indulging in watching TiVo and resting up in general. The only downside is that I miss Babe and my kitteh babies! It's been unusually warm and windy lately, which has cause my allergies to flare up something awful : / My eyes were so dry and irritated the other day and the congestion is kind of horrible too. Part of me thinks it's because I'm in a different state (with different plants and such), and my immune system is unfamiliar with the pollen and other irritants around here. Hopefully this clears up soon!

I've also been giving some serious thought to getting an e-reader and I think I'm going to take the dive. I have a feeling it won't be the same as reading a book, but it'll still be good to have one. Mostly want one so I won't accumulate more and more books. Books are heavy, and hard to move : / And for someone who doesn't have a permanent place of residence at the moment, I really *really* don't want to have to lug all my books around (it's funny to think because I do lug around my Twilight and Harry Potter and they weigh a ton and I can't bear to part with any of them : / )

The nail in the coffin about getting an e-reader pretty much happened after I watched the Hunger Games trailer on the interwebs yesterday. The first thing I thought was "Oh my goodness I'm going to have to read all the books before I go see that movie... it's a trilogy isn't it? that's more books : / I need an e-reader : / ".

So I think I'm going to get the Kindle Classic. I don't think I really need a fancy Kindle... seeing as how I was toying with the idea of getting a Kindle Fire. I'm not.. because if I was going to do that, I might as well save a bit more and just get an iPad... ya know? And although I would like to say that a Kindle Touch would be nice too, I think I'll save the extra $20 and just get the Classic. Because that's all I really need you know...

I'm desperately trying to reprogram myself to be a more conscious consumer, but it's super hard. Especially with all these Christmas commercials on the television I've been watching lately. On a side note, there is a 24/7 holiday music station in Chicago that I've been listening to when I'm in the kitchen doing the dishes. This just makes me want to put the Christmas decorations and tree up ASAP when I get home. I feel like doing this would certainly brighten my spirits.

So yeah! That's what's new. I'm probably going to go out and about later on this week before I go home to do another once over at Presence (this clothing store down the street from where I'm staying right now). They had some really super cool wooden laser cut owl earrings that I resisted getting over the weekend. I've had some days to think about them and I feel like they'd be so cool to have in my life. I think they were only $12.50 too....

That's all... so here are some pictures I've taken (from my Twitter):

A lovely tea party with mum at Julius Meinl:

And a blended Thai tea boba drink from dinner last night! :)
